As one of a team of shift supervisors, you will supervise and deliver an efficient and effective general warehousing function, including Evidential Detained Property, File & Tape Storage & Retrieval, Forensic Vehicle Inspection logistical support.

West Midlands Police are currently undertaking a long term review of staff pay and conditions. The grade, pay and other terms of employment are therefore subject to review and may change in the future.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  To supervise the allocation and prioritization of workload and performance of the Warehouse team, a workforce of c20 staff (split into teams) delivering business support for:
  •  Evidential Detained Property
  •  File Storage & Retrieval
  •  Vehicles for Forensic Examination
  •  Deliveries to and collections from the site (other than Fleet related)
  • Safe Disposal of Returned/Used Items
  •  To supervise performance delivery and staff development
  •  To provide duty supervisory cover for the site in terms of fire, security, and incidents requiring urgent support or intervention
  •  To liaise with site security officers to maintain integrity and safety of the site, including overseeing access of visitors to the site
  •  To review and ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements, Force Policy, Procedure, and Standing Orders
  •  To be responsible for ensuring systems maintenance relating to the receipt, supply and production of goods, services, and vehicles for forensic examination, including PDMS, ELVIS, CX portal
  •  To support the day to day operation of designated contracts, ensuring compliance in line with submitted contract service level agreements
  •  To regularly liaise with Commercial Officers in the provision of business support
  •  To liaise with suppliers/stakeholders and meet/visit as required.
  •  To support forecasting, planning, procurement and delivery of goods and services in accordance with demand requirements and identify/supply cost-effective solutions
  •  Report management information as required, including stock and audit checks
  •  To support the continuous improvement of the Warehouse function against agreed service levels using relevant systems and by influencing and consulting with stakeholders
  •  Take appropriate action to ensure productivity, efficiency and performance targets linked with service level agreements are met
  •  To support the Facilities Hard on projects and Policy & Procedure updates, undertaking research activities as required
  •  To be responsible for the quality assurance of goods received
  •  To ensure goods and products are handled in accordance with safe manual handling requirements
  • To uphold the Police Code of Ethics and ensure compliance within area of responsibility
  •  To carry out any other duties that may from time to time be determined

Knowledge & Experience (including qualifications):


Essential

  •  Proven supervisory ability preferably in a customer-focused environment
  •  Proven knowledge of inventory processes, control, and quality assurance
  •  Proven ability to deliver efficiency savings
  •  Proven knowledge & application of Health & Safety practice
  •  Ability to effectively implement policy and process change
  •  Ability to engage with stakeholders and customers at all levels
  •  Proven ability to deliver results through people and manage performance

Desirable

  •  Previous employment experience in a warehouse/production environment
  •  Safe Materials Handling experience including Fork Lift qualification
  •  Ability and experience to support project research and delivery
  •  Working knowledge of business operating and supply procedures
