Reporting directly to the Director of Communications & Media Relations, responsible for maintaining Williamson County’s family of external websites, including governing structure, standards, and strategy. Creates and maintains web pages, web parts, modules, tabs, links, and other navigation tools in coordination with other communications professionals and web contacts for departments. Position can work remotely with availability for in-person meetings. 


  • Maintains the county’s various websites; approves new website content
  • Creates content strategies specific to target audiences, including conducting market research and employing Search Engine Optimizations (SEO) strategies
  • Ensures website design and content meet style guide, user experience, graphics standards, and laws (i.e., copyright and data protection)
  • Performs regular audits of websites to ensure accuracy and consistency with the county’s branding, user experience design principles, SEO standards, and ADA compliance
  • Assists in monitoring web usage; provides reports and tracks web analytics to ascertain content engagement levels
  • Creates procedures, standards, and style guides
  • Designs and conducts regular training sessions for users
  • Maintains list of website contacts for departments/offices
  • Develops, tracks, and makes recommendations for performance indexes related to website traffic and performance
  • Tests website accessibility and functionality
  • Creates and updates content on the county’s internal Sharepoint site
  • Posts information to the website in the event of a public health or other emergency
  • Serves as a point of contact with website content management system (CMS) and coordinates service requests when needed
  • Coordinates closely with IT regarding embedded applications, development of new functionality, infrastructure, security, back-up, upgrade, patching, and redundancy
  • Provides support for internal departments
  • Stays current with website and digital content trends and solutions
  • Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
  • Performs special duties as assigned

  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying
  • Position involves safely operating a motor vehicle


  • Work is primarily indoors 
  • Travel between work sites, as required


  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) is required to cover special events and emergencies
  • May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Design, or related field and three (3) years of experience in web content, public information, public relations, marketing, design, or similar programs; OR an equal combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience with content management systems such as Drupal, WordPress, or other
  • Prior experience in professional level writing, plain language writing, graphic design, and responsive design
  • Maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record


Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Valid Texas driver’s license
