General Definition of Work

The professional nurse will provide primary, preventive and rehabilitative care to individuals and families in the Immunization, Child Health and Adult Health Clinic. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Health Nursing Director II.

The primary purpose of this position is to obtain health history and physical examination information for the Physician Extenders to facilitate the flow of clients through the Adult Health, Immunization, Lab, Chronic Disease and Triage Programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. Degree in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year in public health; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by N.C. Board of Nursing.  

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid NC Nursing license upon hire.

Valid NC Driver's License

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs. If you have student loans and you are selected for full-time employment with Rockingham County, you may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance due on your William D.
