Licensing Services Representative

As a Licensing Service Representative, you will be supporting our Application and Issuance team. Utilizing your exceptional customer service and organizational skills, by answering calls, emails, faxes, and U.S. Mail. Your ability to research records and answer questions about service issues will be key in this role. Your eye for detail will be key as you review applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness. Your technical savvy will be invaluable as you navigate through the DOL’s database, reviewing, establishing, and updating driver and vehicle records.

Some of what you will do:

  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret driver and vehicle data.
  • Process special plate, military, and disabled parking applications.
  • Interpret state and federal regulations, policy, and procedures.


What you will bring:
  • Three (3) years of work experience providing customer service involving public contact providing products and services, and/or explaining rules and regulations to customers. 
  • One (1) year of experience composing clear, professionally appropriate, technically correct, and step by-step instruction responses to customers. 
Experience must include the following:
  • Technical working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience using electronic systems and form templates to input data, ability to access and navigate between multiple computer programs, databases.

What may set you apart:
  • Experience applying complex rules, laws, and policies or procedures to business practices.
  • Experience working in DRIVES, and/or other user-interfaced web-based applications, and retrieving data from unique department databases, systems, or applications.
  • Prior experience issuing registrations and or licenses to the public in a Driver Vehicle Licensing office and/or assisting customers in a general Licensing environment.
  • Knowledge of Driver/Vehicle Licensing Laws and Rules
Additional Requirements of Employment:
  • This position will start out working full-time in the Highway License Building in Olympia for a period of time for training at which, there could be the opportunity to have a hybrid remote work schedule at which time a reliable internet service and a dedicated workspace would be required. 
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including Abstract Driver Record and criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • You must be able to prove US Citizenship and pass fingerprint based federal background check to include malfeasance check on employee for the past 5 years. A background check and malfeasance reference check will be conducted every 5 years.
  • In addition, an acceptable fingerprint based criminal history background check is also required for this position, as a condition of employment. Fingerprints will be used to check the criminal history records of the FBI. .
