The County of San Luis Obispo Health Agency is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic professional to join the Health Applications team within the organization’s Information Technology department in the role of Health Applications Administrator. 

This position is critical to the success of the Health Agency and will be classified as an Administrative Services Officer I/II. This is a full-time, Limited Term position, funding for this position expires on August 8, 2025. Candidates for this position should possess knowledge related to enterprise health applications, including electronic health records (EHR) applications, environmental health data management systems, custom applications, and medical and drug testing solutions. The Health Applications Administrators will be tasked with all functions related to the implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of these systems.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Development, support, training, and optimization of EHR systems
  • Creating and updating procedures of supported applications
  • Coordinate and organize business activities and flow of communication between vendors and staff
  • Maintaining permissions and security within each application
  • Troubleshooting wide range of issues within the supported applications
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining departmental timelines and priorities
  • Collaborate to optimize systems

This recruitment may be used to fill future permanent, substitute, limited term, and temporary positions, both full-time and part-time throughout the County. 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate must be able to effectively interface with professionals, have strong interpersonal skills, and assist in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of department projects. Candidates are responsible for a wide range of roles and must be able to multitask while working independently. The selected individual would ensure activities comply with established standards, policies and procedures set forth by the county. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of electronic health records applications and environmental health data management systems.    
This position provides consultation to departmental staff; responds to inquiries, resolves issues and conflicts, and provides detailed and technical information while maintaining requirements, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
A combination of education, training, and experience resulting in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of qualifying education and experience includes: 

Administrative Services Officer I: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration or a closely related field (Job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis).

Administrative Services Officer II: In addition to the above educational experience, one year of experience at a professional level performing a wide variety of administrative and business management activities.
