Overview

This is a mid-level, full-time position with the City’s Technology and Innovation Department. An individual in this position will be responsible for the maintenance of GIS related software and hardware, providing technical support to end users and customers, supporting integration of GIS with other software systems, providing management of the SDE database environment and SQL server, performing complex GIS analysis, developing web mapping applications, and managing GIS related projects.

Examples of Work


•    Perform analysis and create GIS data, tables, forms, reports and exhibits to meet project objectives;

•    Assess and fulfill requests for GIS information. Apply GIS techniques and principles to accomplish efficient project management and strategic attainment of objectives;

•    Manage GIS related projects to insure resources are used efficiently, objectives are attained and deadlines are met;

•    Perform evaluation, testing, installations, and upgrades of GIS related hardware and software;  

•    Use industry standard programming languages to automate processes and procedures to enhance GIS efficiency; 

•    Provide technical support and in-house training for GIS users;

•    Maintain and manage an efficient multi-user SDE environment and manage the associated SQL Server databases and IIS web server;

•    Develop and maintain hardware, software, and systems documentation and procedures;

•    Maintain and manage ArcGIS services and web applications in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment.

•    Provide integration support between the GIS and other systems;

•    Develop GIS applications for the desktop and internet to meet the needs of employees, citizens, and project objectives;

•    Research, coordinate, and implement new processes and technology;

•    Assist with design and development of the GIS;

•    Perform other related duties as assigned;

•    Subject to 24 hour recall.


Education, Experience, or Certification

Technical certification or an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in GIS or a related technology field and a minimum of two years relevant professional experience are required.

The Department of Human Resources & OrganizationalDevelopment may consider an equivalent combination ofeducation, training and/or experience.
