As a Registered Nurse 4, your objective is to assist the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in leading and directing all inpatient hospital nursing services, nursing staff development and training, and infection control services in compliance with Conditions of Participation by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This position provides oversight in the day-to-day operational activities for psychiatric inpatient nursing services. This position supports the CNO by working with managers to ensure OHBH maintains compliance with all pertinent Federal and State laws and regulations.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.   

King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.    
Some of what you'll do:  

  • Plans and directs all nursing functions in assigned areas
  • Communicate with all levels of the hospital organization
  • Allocates nursing resources
  • Articulates and interprets nursing care standards, Medicare, state and federal laws
  • Performs key leadership functions
  • Remains current in Nursing Practice, roles, and functions of all patient care team members
  • Evaluates patient care delivery system
  • Respond to and formulate complex reports 
  • Complete employee evaluations and audits
  • Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:   

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing AND four years of professional nursing experience including two years in a lead capacity over other nursing personnel
  • One year of full-time experience teaching nursing may be substituted for one year of supervisory experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher degree involving major study in nursing may be substituted for two years of nonsupervisory experience

Other skills and abilities:

  • A valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
  • ANCC certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing is preferred
  • Expert knowledge of hospital, state, federal regulatory standards, policies, and procedures
  • Master’s degree or higher level in nursing is preferred
