Overview

Kind of Work

Inspectional work interpreting, applying and enforcing municipal and other related City codes regarding zoning, land use, building, housing, dangerous buildings, inoperable vehicles, noise, litter, sanitation, weeds and other public nuisance code provisions; and related work as required. 

Short Term Rental Positions- Some positions in this job classification will be assigned to ensure compliance with laws governing short-term rentals. These positions may involve second- and/or third-shift work.  Employees who are regularly assigned to second and/or third shifts may be eligible for additional shift differential pay. 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School graduation or G.E.D. Equivalency Diploma issued by a State Department of Education.*
  2. EITHER: Sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university.*  
OR:

Two (2) years of experience involving heavy public contact, general compliance, investigatory, or enforcement experience.

Note Some positions may require a valid driver’s license.

* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

Kind of Examination

A written examination, weighted 100%.

This is an original entrance examination.

This position is subject to a background check for any convictions related to its responsibilities and requirements. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history. Criminal history will not automatically disqualify a candidate.
