The immediate vacancy is with the Department of Transportation, Airports Division at the Lihue Airport.

Salary: $4,531 to $5,735 per month (SR-18, Step C to I)

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary

Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates comprehensive business office services, and supervises clerical and technical assistants; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

General Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible business office and administrative housekeeping work experience which included the full range of office services in records and files maintenance, word and mail processing, and reception and related services, and responsibility for at least two of the following areas: a) fiscal recordkeeping; b) budget preparation; c) purchasing; d) inventory control; and e) personnel services.

Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of supervisory work experience which included: a) planning, organizing, scheduling and directing the work of others b) assigning and reviewing their work; c) advising them on difficult problem areas; d) training and developing new employees; and e) evaluating their work performance.

Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Lift and Carry: Some positions require the ability to lift and carry objects of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.

Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport, must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within 10 years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years. The cost for the records check will be the applicant's responsibility.
