Description

The County of Yolo is recruiting for one (1) position in the class of Building Craftsmechanic I/II for the Facilities Division of the General Services Department.  Positions will be filled at the Building Craftsmechanic I or II level depending upon the selected candidate's background and experience. The combined annual salary range for the Building Craftsmechanic I and II classification levels is $46,259 - $61,110. 

Note: This recruitment will be open on a continuous basis until the position is filled.  


Typical duties for the incumbent in this class include dealing with plumbing and electrical issues, but daily assignments will vary and may include the following essential functions:
  • Performs basic or semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work necessary in making repairs to machinery, plumbing, furniture and buildings.
  • Maintains and repairs a variety of mechanical equipment and appliances.
  • Performs mechanical servicing tasks such as greasing, oiling, and replacing worn or defective parts.
  • Installs and removes equipment; conducts inspections to determine need for maintenance work.
  • May transport, provide instruction, and/or be assisted by trustees and other temporary workers.
The Facilities Division is a small team.  As such, the ideal candidate is a self-motivated and detail-oriented team player with a great attitude.  The candidate also enjoys collaborating and solving problems.

Employment Standards

Building Craftsmechanic I

Education and Experience: Training and experience equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade and one (1) year of experience in building maintenance or in mechanical and building trades work. 

Building Craftsmechanic II

Education and Experience: Training and experience equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and two (2) years of experience in building maintenance or in mechanical and building trades work. 

License: Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a physical or mental disability may request a reasonable accommodation.
