Kind of Work

Responsible professional auditing work supervising subordinate auditing personnel and performing financial and operational audits of a complex nature; and related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Permanent status as an Auditor Assistant with the City of New Orleans or Sewerage and Water Board and one (1) year of experience in that classification.

1. A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university OR a Bachelor's Degree in another field with at least fifteen (15) semester hours of accounting and nine (9) additional hours in either economics, management, or another business related course from an accredited college or university. (Accounting credit will only be given for semester hours listed on college transcript with an accounting course prefix).*
2. One (1) year of professional auditing experience.

NOTE:  Possession of a current Certified Public Accountant Certificate in Louisiana may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

Some positions may require a valid driver's license and use of an automobile.

* Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify any education and licenses claimed by the applicant to qualify for this classification. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification. 

Kind of Examination

A  qualifying written test and a rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. Credit will be given only for experience gained within the last ten (10) years for the rating of training and experience; however, all related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes.
This is an original entrance and promotional examination.
