Description of Job

This position administers the work order system by answering calls on the Help Desk and completing work orders in the system. This position also schedules conference rooms for State employees and provides administrative support to Capitol Complex staff.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • HELP Desk Operator - Answer incoming calls from the HELP Desk lines, providing efficient customer service and responding appropriately to callers needs and requests. Accurately enter caller information in the Asset Essentials work order management system.
  • State Operator - Answer incoming calls from the State Operator lines in a timely and courteous manner, providing efficient customer service. This includes providing information to the general public.
  • Administrative Support - Provide general administrative support as needed to the Capitol Complex staff. This may include faxing, copying, scanning, mail distribution, closing work order and creating Word and Excel documents.
  • State Employee ID Badge Program - Approve and print ID Badge Request forms submitted by HR representatives statewide. Ensure proper documentation, take photos, and issue IDs for employees and contractors

Class Code & Classification Description: (New)


Experience Only:
At least two (2) years of relevant experience in an office setting (answering phones and providing customer service)  
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an office setting (answering phones and providing customer service)  equal to at least  two (2) years

The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:

  • Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position
  • Excellent  communication and customer service skills
  • Experience working in a call center or answering multi-line phones

Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

Appeal Rights:

An applicant who has been removed from an employment list or removed from consideration during the selection process may request a review by the State Personnel Director.

As an applicant directly affected by the results of the selection or comparative analysis process, you may file a written appeal with the State Personnel Director.

Review of the completed, signed and submitted appeal will be timely on the basis of written material submitted by you, using the official appeal form signed by you or your representative. This form must be completed and delivered to the State Personnel Board by email at  within ten (10) calendar days from your receipt of notice or acknowledgement of the Department’s action.
