quarter sawn Oak lumber is the angle that which the annular growth rings intersect the face of the board. When cutting this lumber at the sawmill, each log is sawed at a radial angle into four quarters, hence the name. This is the most expensive cut of timber and has a distinctive pattern to all other grades of flat sawn oak.
Flat sawn oak timber which is a clear grade with a mixture of natural grain with occasional knots not exceeding 10mm with minimal sapwood leaving a natural colour with no heartwood.
London Parquet smoked and fumed colours are achieved through a process that reacts with the natural tannins in the oak. This process is dictated by nature and has more variants in colour and not by using pigmented stains which achieve a more uniform colour. London Parquet Co can vary the colour in the smoking via the amount of ammonia used and the time the boards remain in the smoking chamber this is a controlled process giving a much more natural appearance]
